The man is a living legend in the music industry, and has finally made his US debut after collaborating with Daft Punk on RAM. Pioneering his own unique disco sound as well as working with heavyweights of the industry like Donna Summer, Giorgio has been around the block a few times. I personally had never heard a set of his before now, and I am extremely glad I spent time to give my ears a proper education this afternoon. I feel like I just traveled to Mars and back. So cool.

After a short hiatus the man of many names is back with his eighth edition of Epic Radio. This is a special episode, however, as he is fresh off EDC NYC and is showcasing his darker, techno side. Now living in LA he has been re-inspired in the studio, working to progress an otherwise stagnant music scene (at least in his humble opinion). Contrary to many people’s worries (not ours), he has not been becoming more mainstream as he continues to enjoy the many luxuries of living stateside, quite the opposite, actually. Taking up his ‘Black Dice‘ residency in Vegas this spring he has let Cirez D out of the cage and I don’t think Eric has any plans of putting him back any time soon. I had the rare opportunity to see him perform live as Cirez D in MIA, and never have I been more intimidated by noise in my entire life. This episode is indeed special, it will not be to everyone’s current ‘tastes’ in music, but if you have access to high quality speakers/headphones, I dare you to try it on for size. Personally, I was getting goosebumps just thinking about pressing play.

Porter Robinson and Mat Zo’s monstrous collaborative hit “Easy” commissioned a few official remixes, including a standout drum and bass rendition from UK stationed Andy C. He brings in the tracks lightly altering the original by speeding it up and adding minor beefed up drums. Then around 1:30 he lets the listener gets a powefuly blast of signature drum and bass greatness still somehow keeping the overall happy nature of the original. It’s not easy keeping the essence of an original while making it so your own. The multiple sub labels of Silk have been on fire lately. So many great young talents with huge tunes. You can be sure of one thing from all these guys. Silky smooth progressive house. I mean…it just feels right. Be honest with yourself. Shingo Nakamura‘s latest release is a track called “There For Me” with remixes from KIWAMU and Monojoke. These remixers are new to me but won’t be for long. They have done some gorgeous work here. If I had to pick a favorite, it’s the one that sounds most like he and Eric Prydz found each other in the studio and became friends. Yea, I’m talking about the Monojoke remix. If you didn’t get that from listening you need to listen to more Pryda. But overall, I think the original is right on point. Purchase this EP and melt with us.
